Full name: William Taylor O'Donnell

Born: 29th September 1997, Gauteng, South Africa

One of the senior leaders of the ACES group, Will O'Donnell was, for a long time, one of two O'Donnells that dominated the batting charts for the Auckland team.

Will crafted a solid record doing what few batters have had success doing: opening the batting in tough New Zealand conditions in the longer format. His record at home in the Plunket Shield is impressive: three centuries and an average of almost 40.

2020/21 was a banner season for O'Donnell as he emerged from the shadow of his older brother Robbie to hit over 1,000 runs across formats, averaging over 50 in the two longest formats.

O'Donnell has always been capable of anchoring an innings but his role in the shorter format has been more flexible with a finisher role sometimes being required, with his big frame and fast bat speed allowing immense power down the ground and over the leg side. Some of his sixes onto the concourse at the Eden Park Outer Oval have been particularly memorable.
