One of the country’s top glovemen and a powerful middle order ball striker, Fletcher returned to the Auckland setup in 2023/24 for the first time since age-group cricket, having spent several seasons playing for Canterbury. He immediately showed his wares both behind the stumps and with bat in hand during the Super Smash, and his 51-ball 74 against Otago at Eden Park guided Auckland home during a tricky run chase.

Fletcher came into his own during the 2024/25 season, with some more incredible work behind the stumps now matched with consistency with the bat. This was especially apparent in the two longer formats where his technically sound batting rescused the ACES from some dicey situations in the Plunket Shield campaign. His middle order ball striking also earned him the Ford Trophy Player of the Year at the ACA Cricketer of the Year Awards.

With a reputation as one of the true nice guys of NZ Domestic Cricket, his off-field value to his team mates was also highlighted at the ACA Awards where he was voted both the 2023/24 and 2024/25 Player’s Player of the Year.
