Already one of the country’s top young spinners, it’s hard to believe that Adi Ashok is only in his early twenties. With his potential immediately confirmed with season figures of 14 wickets at 17.1 (and an economy rate of 6.5) during the 2021/22 Super Smash, Ashok caught the eye of the national selectors the following season, making his BLACKCAPS debut against the UAE in Dubai in 2023.

His first class debut followed at the start of the next season and his long format wiles were immediately apparent with a five wicket bag against Central Stags, including a memorable wrong'un to get rid of a well-set Will Young.

After missing out on much of the 2023/24 with injury, Ashok returned to the side in 2024/25 and set about re-confirming his position as one of the country's top spin prospects. A particular highight was his dismantling of the Otago Volts with 3/22 at Eden Park.
