Auckland sides set for Otago rematches in Dunedin doubleheader

 ACES & HEARTS

Auckland’s Super Smash campaign continues in Dunedin on Monday 12 January, with a doubleheader at the University of Otago Oval featuring the Otago Sparks against the Auckland HEARTS at 12.40pm, followed by the Otago Volts taking on the Auckland ACES at 4.25pm.

The opening match sees the HEARTS return to Dunedin for a rematch against the Sparks, having claimed a memorable win the last time the sides met. That contest went down to the final ball, with Brooke Halliday delivering a match-winning dot ball under pressure to seal a dramatic one run victory.

The HEARTS arrive with momentum after a dominant 80 run win over the Magicians yesterday. Prue Catton led the innings with a fluent 51, while Halliday continued her strong form with a commanding 62.

The evening fixture sees the ACES take on the Volts in another rematch, having dominated their previous meeting with a complete performance with bat and ball. The ACES will be looking to respond after yesterday's outing against the Kings.

Despite the loss yesterday, there were positives to take, highlighted by a record-setting fifth wicket partnership between Bevon Jacobs and Cam Fletcher. The pair combined for an unbeaten stand, with Jacobs finishing on 88 not out and Fletcher contributing 80 not out, setting a new Super Smash record for the fifth wicket.

Live coverage of the Sparks v HEARTS match begins at 12.40pm on TVNZ+ and DUKE, followed by the Volts v ACES clash at 4.25pm.
