Parnell vs. Hibiscus Coast
Shore Road Reserve

Hibiscus Coast 165/6 (41.1), (A Rangwani 63*) beat Parnell 164 (40), (J Wright 42*; R Lakmal 4/24)

Hibiscus Coast claimed a composed six-wicket win in their Jeff Crowe Cup fixture, chasing down Parnell’s modest total with more than eight overs to spare.

Parnell, sent in under helpful bowling conditions, struggled to build partnerships as the Coast attack applied steady pressure throughout. Only lower-order batter Jack Wright was able to shift the momentum, crafting an impressive 42 not out from 40 balls at number ten to lift his side to 164 from 40 overs. Earlier, Ramesh Lakmal had made a decisive impact with the ball, taking 4 for 24 and consistently breaking stands to keep Parnell from accelerating.

In reply, Hibiscus Coast anchored their chase around a composed innings from number three Aditya Rangwani. His unbeaten 63 from 103 balls provided stability as wickets fell around him, ensuring the visitors remained on track. Coast reached 165 for 6 in 41.1 overs, completing a well-controlled chase and banking valuable early competition points.

 

East Coast Bays vs. Auckland University
Windsor Park

East Coast Bays 125 (41.1) (K Kieser 49, N Stobart 6/17) beat Auckland University 121 (29.5), (N Robinson 40; B Harrison 4/35, D Laban-Jeffries 3/23) by 4 runs

East Coast Bays edged a tense, low-scoring thriller at Windsor Park, defending 125 in a match where both sides’ bowlers dominated from start to finish.

After being put under immediate pressure, Bays slumped to 43 for 8 as Auckland University seamer Nick Stobart ripped through the top and middle order with a superb spell of 6 for 17 from 10 overs. Only number eight Kyle Kieser (49 off 73) and number ten Max Butler (25 off 53) were able to halt the slide, lifting their side to 125 from 41.1 overs and giving the Bays attack something to work with.

Despite the modest target, the chase was anything but straightforward. Auckland University reaching a promising 101 for 4, led by an aggressive 40 from 25 balls by number-four batter Nathan Robinson. But just as the visitors appeared to be closing in, Bays struck back. Brodie Harrison (4/35) and opening bowler Dion Laban-Jeffries (3/23) combined to dismantle the remainder of the innings, sealing a dramatic turnaround as University fell four runs short.

 

Birkenhead vs. Cornwall
Birkenhead War Memorial Park

Cornwall 356/7 (50), (P Mistry 126, S Dixit 85, H Kannan 75; M Gibson 3/31) beat Birkenhead 239 (43.2), (A Kariyawasam 62, M Masand 57) by 117 runs

Cornwall produced one of the standout batting performances of the round, piling on 356 for 7 to set up a convincing victory over Birkenhead at Birkenhead War Memorial Park.

After being sent in, Cornwall’s top order took full advantage of ideal batting conditions. Priyam Mistry was superb in the anchor role, crafting a commanding 126 from 92 balls. He was well supported by Sid Dixit, who added 85 from 82, and Harrish Kannan, whose fluent 75 from 65 helped push Cornwall to a formidable total. The trio combined for 286 runs between them, ensuring Cornwall controlled the innings from start to finish.

Birkenhead’s response had bright moments but lacked the sustained partnerships needed to threaten the chase. Middle-order contributions from Ashail Kariyawasam (62 off 48) and Mayur Masand (57 off 33) kept the home side in the contest, but regular wickets stalled their progress. Cornwall’s attack, led by Matt Gibson’s disciplined 3 for 31 from nine overs, maintained pressure throughout and eventually bowled Birkenhead out for 239 in 43.2 overs.

 

Takapuna vs. North Shore
Onewa Domain

Takapuna 105/6 (10.3 overs), (W O’Donnell 65, B Beecroft 34, W Clarke 4/4) beat North Shore 104 (35), (D Middleton 39, S Collinson 5/29) by 4 wickets

Takapuna claimed a fast-paced victory at Onewa Domain, chasing down North Shore’s total inside 11 overs despite a dramatic late collapse.

North Shore, having elected to bat first, found themselves under constant pressure from a disciplined Takapuna attack. Daniel Middleton offered the main resistance with 39 from 51 at number three, but wickets fell regularly around him. Seamer Sam Collinson delivered the standout spell of the innings, taking 5 for 29 from his full 10 overs to help dismiss the visitors for 104 in 35 overs.

Takapuna’s reply began explosively. Openers Will O’Donnell and Benjamin Beecroft tore into the bowling, blasting 65 from 27 balls and 34 from 27 respectively to put the result beyond doubt early. However, with victory in sight, Takapuna suffered a remarkable collapse - losing five wickets for no runs in their attempt to finish the chase with a boundary.

Despite the wobble, the hosts reached the target at 105 for 6 in just 10.3 overs, securing a bonus-point win and another strong performance with bat and ball.

Suburbs New Lynn vs. Kumeu
Ken Maunder Park

Suburbs New Lynn 83/5 (31.4), (S Verma 46*) beat Kumeu 82 (27.3), (V Karmarkar 36, S Devereaux 3/7)

Suburbs New Lynn secured a hard-fought five-wicket win in a low-scoring contest at Ken Maunder Park, chasing down Kumeu’s modest total with patience and composure.

Kumeu were put under pressure early and never fully recovered, bowled out for 82 in 27.3 overs. Opener Vinit Karmarkar showed determination with a measured 36 from 72 balls, but regular breakthroughs kept Suburbs in firm control. Opening bowler Samuel Devereaux led the way with an excellent 3 for 7, helping restrict Kumeu to a total well below par.

The chase was far from straightforward as Kumeu’s bowlers applied pressure of their own, reducing Suburbs to 83 for 5. However, opener Shikhar Verma anchored the innings superbly with an unbeaten 46 from 108 balls, guiding his side home in 31.4 overs and ensuring the hosts collected the points.

 

Waitakere vs. Papatoetoe
Te Atatū Park

Waitakere 243 (50 overs; R de Silva 70, A Prasad 3/50) beat Papatoetoe 145 (33.2), (A Sood 60) by 98 runs

Waitakere produced a composed all-round performance at Te Atatū Park, securing a strong 98-run victory built on steady batting and a collective bowling effort.

Batting first, Waitakere compiled 243 from their 50 overs, with number five batter Ranindu de Silva anchoring the innings superbly. His 70 from 91 balls provided the backbone around which the rest of the lineup contributed. Papatoetoe’s Avnit Prasad was the most effective bowler, finishing with 3 for 50 from his 10 overs.

In reply, Papatoetoe struggled to build the sustained partnerships required. Austin Sood offered resistance with a well-made 60 from 72 balls at number five, but regular wickets prevented any real momentum. Waitakere’s bowlers shared the workload and the wickets evenly, maintaining control throughout and eventually bowling Papatoetoe out for 145 in 33.2 overs.

 

Eden Roskill vs. Ellerslie
Keith Hay Park

Eden Roskill 258/5 (33.1), (S Desai 62, N Patel 50, H Johal 47) beat Ellerslie 255/8 (50), (S Wimalaratne 109) by 5 wickets

Eden Roskill capped a powerful batting display at Keith Hay Park, chasing down Ellerslie’s total with more than 16 overs to spare to claim a convincing five-wicket win.

Ellerslie, having chosen to bat first, were led superbly by opener Shannon Wimalaratne, who compiled a patient and well-crafted 109 from 141 balls. His innings held the top order together as wickets fell steadily at the other end, with Eden Roskill’s attack sharing the breakthroughs. A late push lifted Ellerslie to 255/8 from their 50 overs - a competitive total, built almost entirely around Wimalaratne’s century.

Eden Roskill’s response was authoritative from the outset. Opener Swayam Desai set the tone with a brisk 62 from 54 balls, giving the chase early momentum. Number three batter Neil Patel added 50 from 45, continuing the pressure on the bowling attack, before Harjot Johal’s explosive 47 from just 25 balls ensured the result was never in doubt. Eden Roskill crossed the line at 258/5 in 33.1 overs, completing a dominant run chase.

 

Howick Pakuranga vs. Grafton
Lloyd Elsmore Park

Howick Pakuranga 186/5 (41.2), (A Jones 56*, S Sanjay 50*, C Henderson 4/37) beat Grafton 183 (49.5), (N Robinson 74, C Bethune 3/32)

Howick Pakuranga produced a composed chase built on patience and resilience, carrying them to a five-wicket victory over Grafton at Lloyd Elsmore Park.

Grafton, batting first after winning the toss, fought their way to 183 thanks largely to an excellent lower-order innings from Nicholas Robinson. Coming in at number nine, Robinson counterattacked with a well-structured 74 from 89 balls, rescuing his side from deep trouble and pushing the total towards respectability. Howick Pakuranga’s bowlers maintained control throughout, with Caine Bethune leading the way with 3/32 from his 10 overs.

In reply, Howick Pakuranga were tested early but found their stability through a superb, unbeaten sixth-wicket partnership. Number four batter Adam Jones anchored the chase with a calm 56 not out from 95 balls, while number seven Selwin Sanjay provided the perfect foil, compiling an unbeaten 50 from 74 deliveries. Their 96-run stand steered the hosts home in 41.2 overs. For Grafton, opening bowler Cory Henderson impressed with figures of 4/37, consistently asking questions throughout his spell.

 

Auckland University vs. Parnell
Colin Maiden Park

Auckland University 62/0 (7.2), (P Catton 41*) beat Parnell 61 (28.1), (K Knight 3/7) by 10 wickets

Auckland University delivered a commanding performance at home, securing a 10-wicket victory over Parnell in a one-sided Prichard Cup encounter.

After choosing to bowl first, Auckland University quickly took control with a disciplined and probing attack. Parnell struggled to build partnerships, with only two players reaching double figures as wickets fell at regular intervals. The bowling unit worked superbly as a collective, and Kayley Knight stood out with an excellent spell of 3/7 from 4.1 overs, helping dismiss the visitors for just 61 in 28.1 overs.

The chase was emphatic. Openers Prue Catton and Zamera Ikuia wasted no time, putting on an unbroken stand to finish the match inside eight overs. Catton struck a fluent 41* off 25 balls, while Ikuia added a steady 16* from 20, guiding Auckland University to 62/0 in 7.2 overs.

A clinical display with both bat and ball sees Auckland University take full points and build confidence heading into the next round.

 

North Shore vs. Cornwall
Devonport Domain

Cornwall 161/8 (40 overs; L Paul 50, O Fraser 36, J Smith 3/27) beat North Shore 70 (31.2 overs; R Jaswal 17; B Armstrong 3/4, A Todd 3/6, T Cook 3/14) by 91 runs

Cornwall produced a polished all-round performance at Devonport Domain, securing a convincing victory over North Shore after setting a competitive total and backing it up with an exceptional collective bowling display.

Sent in to bat, Cornwall built steadily throughout their 40 overs. Leah Paul anchored the innings with a composed 50 from 64 balls at number four, while opener Olivia Fraser contributed a patient 36 from 59. North Shore kept things tight through the middle stages, led by Jess Smith’s tidy 3/27 from seven overs, but Cornwall’s measured approach carried them to 161/8—an effective total on a surface offering assistance to the bowlers.

In reply, North Shore were unable to establish any momentum as Cornwall’s attack controlled the innings from the outset. Rishika Jaswal showed commendable fight with 17 off 61, the only player to reach double figures, but regular breakthroughs ensured the chase never settled. Cornwall shared the wickets evenly, with Bella Armstrong (3/4 off 6), Anika Todd (3/6 off 4), and Tully Cook (3/14 off 7.2) all producing outstanding spells to bundle North Shore out for 70 in 31.2 overs.

A disciplined, team-focused effort sees Cornwall claim a strong win and valuable Prichard Cup points.

 

Suburbs New Lynn vs. Takapuna
Ken Maunder Park

Takapuna 183/5 (40 overs; L Down 93*, A Kelly 39) beat Suburbs New Lynn 39 (18.4 overs; Kelly 6/9)

Takapuna delivered a strong all-round performance to secure victory at Ken Maunder Park, with experience and composure proving decisive against a youthful Suburbs New Lynn side.

After choosing to bat, Takapuna were guided superbly by opener Lauren Down, who anchored the innings with a commanding 93 not out from 107 balls. Down’s innings provided the stability around which Takapuna built, while Arlene Kelly added valuable impetus in the middle order with 39 from 46. Their partnership and game awareness helped Takapuna post a well-constructed 183/5 from their 40 overs.

Suburbs New Lynn faced a challenging chase against one of the competition’s most seasoned bowling units. Although they showed plenty of spirit, Takapuna’s discipline with the ball made scoring difficult. Amelia Harvey fought hard for her 12, the only double-figure contribution, as Suburbs were bowled out for 39 in 18.4 overs.

Arlene Kelly capped off an outstanding all-round match with a superb spell of 6/9 from 7.4 overs, showcasing both control and experience.
