NZC Announces Community Cricket App and PlayHQ Changes for 2025/26 Season

 CLUB

Ahead of the new season, New Zealand Cricket is introducing a new Community Cricket app called “Cricket Central” to support the playing experience in community cricket across the country.

The app is designed to bring greater visibility and convenience to the club game. Players, families, and supporters will be able to follow matches and stay up to date more easily throughout the season.

Key features of the app include:

  • Live scores, fixtures, and match results
  • Personal and team statistics tracking
  • Access to historical stats from previous seasons
  • Direct communication from clubs to participants via in-app updates

This platform is part of New Zealand Cricket’s broader efforts to ensure community cricket continues to evolve with modern expectations, and to support participation through improved digital tools.

NZC is also introducing new functionality to PlayHQ, allowing players and their clubs to:

  • Communicate easily with registered members
  • Send targeted emails or push notifications
  • Save time and streamline operations

To fund the development and maintenance of these tools, a $7.50 technology fee will be introduced at the time of registration. This fee will be applied once per player, per season.

NZC has also confirmed that this fee will remain fixed through to the end of the 2029/30 season.

While this is the first time a technology contribution has been added to club registration, it reflects the growing importance of digital access to match information, communication, and statistics across all levels of the game.

For any information about the app, the technology fee, or the upcoming season, please see the FAQs here.

We look forward to supporting clubs and players as they get familiar with this new platform.
