It was a quick day of cricket at Devonport Domain, with North Shore starting on 5/53 in their second innings, still 110 runs behind Parnell’s first-innings score. The opening bowlers of Jack Dymond (5/16) and Harry Cullen-Hieatt (4/54) did the majority of the damage, with only Daniel Middleton providing any resistance with 56 until he was the last man dismissed. It took less than an hour for Parnell to take the remaining 5 wickets for 47 runs as Parnell returned home with first innings and an outright win by an innings and put themselves as one of the favourites to win the Hedley Howarth.

Auckland University began the day 1/112 in their 2nd innings, looking to set up a reverse outright after Grafton won the first innings last week. Uni got into a strong position, declaring on 9/305, giving them a 243-run lead, thanks to a Barrington Rowland 137 off 124 and a Josh Stephan 58, the pair putting on 104 for the 2nd wicket. Ross Ter Braak brought Grafton back into the game with 3/93 through the middle.
Grafton was in early trouble as Uni picked up early wickets, giving Uni a sniff at a reverse outright. Kieran Mackenzie picked up 3/61, and 2fers to Nikheil Bhana (2/32) and Nick Stobart (2/20) made it close; however, an unbeaten 51 from Sineth Gunawardane was able to see Grafton through to the end of the day 9 down. Grafton walking away with the first innings points.

Suburbs began the day 4/74, chasing Takapuna’s 180 to win the first innings. Takapuna, through Peter Ruffell (3/53), had the dream start with Michael Barry dismissed without adding any runs to their overnight tally. Shikhar Verma top scored with 26, however it wasn’t enough as Suburbs were bowled out for 140, thanks to a Sam Collinson 4/53.
Takapuna went about trying to set up an outright result by making 166 from 20 overs before declaring 3 wickets down. Cambell Brighouse remaining unbeaten on 80 off 65, putting on 63 with Quinn Sunde (29 off 20) for the 2nd wicket.
Chasing 206 to take the outright win, Suburbs got off to a steady start with contributions throughout their top and middle order, Michael Barry (54) the only one to go past 50. Barry was the 8th man dismissed, needing just 18 with 2 wickets in hand there was the opportunity for either side to take the win. Matt Jones ending up with 6/63, including the final two wickets, bowing his side to victory and helping Takapuna win first innings and outright points, making them one of the favourites to win the Hedley Howarth.

Eden Roskill declared on their overnight score of 5/230, having already secured a first innings win. Akash Christian top scored with an unbeaten 109, supported by Kabir Shingala who made 39 as Kumeu were bowled out for 239. Rajat Choudhary (4/65), and Harjot Johal (3/28) were the top wicket takers.
Chasing 229 to win outright, the match went right down to the wire with all results possible. There were contributions throughout the order, Choudhary top scoring with 58, Damien van den Berg made 38, and 20s for Swayam Desai (25) and Neil Patel (24), saw Roskill get to 199 before losing their 9th wicket. Needing 30 to win with 1 wicket in hand, Roskill got to 210 before the end of the day’s play was called, meaning Roskill walked away with first innings points, keeping their slim chances of winning Tom Hellaby and gaining promotion alive.

Prarabdh Rawat found early success for the hosts as he picked up the first 4 wickets of the day on his way to picking up 6/62. Sukhdev Sukh provided the most resistance until he was dismissed for a quick fire 43 off 28 as Papatoetoe were bowled out for 135.
Sending Papatoetoe in to follow on, Waitakere was searching for outright points to go with their already secured first innings win. This time, Rushil Chavda dominated the bowling card, taking 6/10 from 9.2 overs. He was supported by Rawat, who again took wickets with 3/28, giving him 9 for the match. Mantej Singh top scored with 32; however, it wasn’t enough, as Papatoetoe was bowled out for 112. Waitakere won outright by an innings and 93 runs.

Howick Pakuranga began the day 0/1 chasing Ellerslie’s 182. The opening pair of Liam Winn (35) and Vir Chib (71) put on 77 for the first wicket, and a second wicket partnership between Chib and Josh McGregor (65 off 44) of 76 putting Howick firmly in the driver’s seat. Howick won the first innings and made a lead of 30 before declaring 3 down.
Ellerslie were able to bat past the 30 run lead thanks to opener Shannon Wimalaratne who top scored with 47. 2 wickets to Sam Molloy (2/28), Azharudin Lambat (2/42), and Harmeet Singh (2/27) weren’t enough to force an outright result with Ellerslie finishing the day 6/155. Howick took the first innings points and moves closer to winning the Tom Hellaby Competition and gaining promotion.

Hibiscus began Day 2 on 7/129, 54 runs behind Birkenhead’s score. Only managing to add 18 to their overnight score, Hibiscus were bowled out for 147, thanks to Mayur Masand picking up a couple of late wickets on his way to taking 5/60.
Birkenhead began their 2nd innings with a lead of 36. James Newman top scored for Birkenhead with 60, however it was a complete bowling performance that helped manage to bowl Birkenhead out for 144. 2 wickets a piece for Ankit Desai (2/19), Zylen Thomas (2/19), Aditya Rangwani (2/36), and Umesh Ranaraja (2/15) did the bulk of the wicket taking work.
Hibiscus went about chasing the 181 required for reverse outright points. There were many starts, with Umesh Ranaraja top scoring with 41, supported with 20’s for Anuradha Jayampathi (27) and Max Godfrey (24), however it wasn’t enough to stop Birkenhead from taking first innings and outright points from the fixture. Hibiscus going on to be bowled out for 154 thanks to a 4/47 by Mayur Masand, and 3/42 by Deelaka Weeraratne.

Cornwall won the toss and elected to bat first against Suburbs New Lynn. Cornwall’s openers scored 102 for the first wicket, with Annie Ewart the top score in that pair with 57 off 56. Bella Armstrong (32 off 26) and Claire Crooks (40*) carried through the momentum to help see their side through to 254 from their 40 overs. Esther Williams was the main wicket taker returning figures of 3/25 from her 8 overs. In reply, Anika Tauwhare top scored for the match with 65, however Tully Cook (2/34) and Amie Hucker (2/35) dismissed most of the top and middle order, meaning she had little support with only Shahana Samadi (24) able to make it into the 20s. Suburbs eventually finished 7/213 at the end of their 40 overs, Cornwall winning by 41 runs.

Parnell won the toss and elected to bat first against North Shore. Openers Yasmeen Kareem (21) and Cate Pedersen (18) put on the highest partnership for the innings with 39. Marina Lamplough top scored with 55 off 42 as wickets fell around her, with the rest of the middle order unable to make it into double figures. 3/27 for Tash Wakelin and 2 wickets each for Neve Andersen (2/22) and Rishika Jaswal (2/39) helped to bowl Parnell out for 186. Samantha Brake-Howard (3/17) set the tone early with the ball as she took 3 of the first 4 wickets with just 14 runs on the board. Eve Wolland did what she could and remained not out on 49 off 45, however, it was a bridge too far, as Mollie Drumm (3/24) and a couple of runouts took the last 5 wickets to bowl North Shore out for 89 giving Parnell a 97 run win.

Howick chased the 62 required with 7 wickets and 16 overs remaining, Angela Clark top scoring with 21.
