Huddleson bowlers managed to pick up regular wickets once Pedeson and Todd were dismissed but the damage had already been done. Breearne Illing 2/17 (4 Overs) and Anika Tauwhare 2/36 (4 Overs) were the main wicket takers. Chasing 136 for victory, Team Huddleston struggled to put together partnerships to chase the total. Radhika Patel 24 (37) top scored but the Team Perkins bowlers proved too strong bowling them to a 26 run win on the back of Kate Duffield 3/15 (4 Overs), Josie Penfold 2/10 (4 Overs) and Todd 2/27 (4 Overs).

Game two of the Legends Cup proved to be a much closer affair going all the way into the last over. Team Perkins won the toss again however this time they sent Team Huddleston in to bat. There were contributions most of the way down the order with the highlights being Kate Irwin 39 (32) and Prue Catton 22 (20) batting and 2 and 3. Kate Duffield impressed with the ball again taking another 3fer this time going for 22 from her 4 Overs. Wickets were otherwise shared around. Chasing 132 to go back to back wins for the day, opener Saachi Shahri (39 from 38) and Bella Armstrong (59* from 37 - retired) took control putting on over 100 for the 3rd wicket helping to lay the platform for those who followed. Neena Woollaston’s 2/17 off 4 helped to take the game right down to the last over however it wasn’t enough to stop Team Perkins making it 2 from 2 as they won by 5 wickets.

Cornwall won the toss against Takapuna and elected to bat. The innings was setup by their openers who put on 131 for the first wicket, Sam Crooks making 50 (72) and new Auckland Ace Sid Dixit making 111 (129). Harrish Kannan joined Dixit when Cornwall were 2 down and put on65 for the 3rd wicket, Kannan going on to make an unbeaten 51 (59) playing an anchor role as wickets fell around him. Takapuna clawed their way back into the game through their spinners, managing to pick up regular wickets once Dixit was removed, Ed Middleton, finished with 2/31 from his 10 overs and Matt Jones 3/44 from his 10 overs bringing Takapuna back into the game. The momentum quickly shifted back in Cornwalls favour through Aces player Matt Gibson taking a wicket off the first ball of the innings, Gibson finished with 3/26 off 6 overs. Tristan Van Ingen-Kal provided some resistance with 31 (37) but it was Cornwall’s bowlers who finished the job inside 19 overs with all the bowlers contributing with wickets. Dixit completing a strong all round performance with 3/19 off his 4 overs helping to give Cornwall a comfortable victory by 159 runs.

East Coast Bays were sent in to bat by Suburbs New Lynn. Suburbs started well picking up the first 2 wickets with less than 10 runs on the board. Momentum started to shift when Ryan Schierhout (26 off 39) and Brodie Harrison (35 off 48) put on 49 for the 3rd wicket. Cam Fletcher was the mainstay for Bays throughout the innings top scoring with 63 off 84 with an important 26 from his fellow Auckland Ace Louis Delport coming in at number 8.. Flectcher was the last man dismissed helping to get Bays up to 161 all out. Wickets were shared between all the bowlers with the main contributors being Luke Devereaux (3/22 off 10 overs) and Malay Patel (3/43 off 10). In the chase Suburbs lost regular wickets which kept Bays in the game all the way through. Jaskaran Sandhu top scored with 31 (38) and Aces player Adi Ashok made a fighting 27 (47) but it wasn’t enough as Bays went on to win the match by 34 runs on the back of Delport taking 3/26 from his 10 overs, and 2 wickets a piece to Blair Smith (2/21 off 7.5), Dion Laban-Jeffries (2/31 off 9), and Harrison (2/42 off 8).

Auckland University were sent in to bat by Parnell. University’s openers did their job scoring 142 for the 1st wicket with both of them passing the 50 mark, Barrington Rowland scoring 91 (96) and Jacob Bainbridge scoring 76 (83). Each of the top 4 made contributions with the score at over 200 by the time they were 3 down with 15 overs still to bat setting up the innings allowing the lower order to go out and strike around a run a ball or better. Aniket Parikh was the pick of the bowlers for Parnell taking 3/39 from his 10 overs. Parnell lost 2 early wickets with the score on 23 however the partnership between Will Ormiston (37 off 68) and Parikh contributing with the bat as well top scoring with a better than a run a ball 67, managed to bring Parnell back into the game with their 81 run 3rd wicket partnership. Daniel Presland then came in and got a score of 46 from the 62 balls he faced trying to carry on the momentum however it was the University bowlers headlined by Auckland Ace’s player Angus Olliver and his 4/52 from 9 overs that swung the game in their favour. University going on to win by 57 runs.

North Shore’s opening bat Juandre Johnson was the pick of the batters scoring a blistering 88 off 61 in an innings which included 8 maximums. Between Johnson and Daniel O’Driscoll they put on 108 for the 2nd wicket with O’Driscoll scoring 62 from 83. Riley Mudford came in at 5 and carried on the momentum striking an explosive 50 off 27 helping guide North Shore to 309. The main wicket takers were all rounders Umesh Ranaraja and Aditya Rangwani taking 3 wickets a piece, 3/29 and 3/69 respectfully. In the second innings there were contributions from 5 out of the top 6 batters, the main ones being Anuradha Jayampathi 52 (56), Rangwani 47 (57), and Ranaraja 32 (37). Auckland Ace Jock McKenzie proved too good for the tail picking up 4 of the last 5 wickets to get himself a 5 wicket hall and helped bowl North Shore to victory by 95 runs with the help of Krissie Mistry taking 3/44 from 7.1 Overs.

However, the main contributions with the bat came from their numbers 8 and 9 as spin put the squeeze on for Howick as Selwin Sanjay (2/20) and Kimesh Chetty (2/22) got 4 of the 8 wickets and gave up just 42 runs from their combined 20 overs. Vinit Mehta (30 off 52) and Fraser Campbell (63* off 47) put on 77 for the 8th wicket helping to see their side through to 214 from their 50 overs. Howick had a much stronger start with the bat, helping to set up the chase for them, with each of the top 4 making it past 30. The highlight was Liam Winn’s (50 off 63) and Vir Chib’s (37 off 52) 90-run opening partnership, helping to break the back of the chase. Off the back of the strong start, Howick was able to cruise to a 5-wicket win with 11.1 overs to spare with contributions from each of the 5 dismissed batters.

During his stay at the crease, he put on 85 for the 4th wicket with Tejas Gemlawala (28 off 53) and 44 for the 7th wicket with Kullim Marchant (40 off 60), who were the other mainstays of the Kumeu innings. Shahzad Ahmadzai gave Kumeu some momentum leading into their bowling innings with a quick 37 off 23 coming in at number 10. Prabjyot Rehal was the pick of the bowlers with 4/35 from 8.4 overs, with Pahul Virk the other notable mention taking 3/23 from 6. Rehal continued his good day in the chase, scoring 63 from 42 and contributing to a 122-run opening partnership; however, it was Ritapraj Gill who saw Papatoetoe home with an unbeaten 121 from 80, which included 14 boundaries and 5 sixes. Ahmadzai took all 3 of the Papatoetoe wickets to fall, finishing with 3/82 from 9 overs, but it wasn’t enough to stop Papatoetoe winning the match by 7 wickets with 23 overs remaining.

Birkenhead managed to take regular wickets until Mitchel Atkins (92 off 78) and Mohit Kandpal (21 off 33) put on 113 for the 4th wicket, setting a base for Waitakere to set a decent total. Tejas Patel (36) and Siddharth Patel (34) also provided helpful contributions as Birkenhead were set 258 to win thanks to 3fers a piece to Damen Oelofse (3/25) and Mayur Masand (3/54). Birkenhead’s chase was forged around an unbeaten 109 from Brian Barnard, with support from Ashail Kariyawasam, scoring 32 from 38, and a 94-run partnership with Reshlen Chetty (26 off 41). The wickets were shared around for most of the bowlers from Waitakere and got it down to the wire with the last wicket still requiring 7 runs, but they were unable to contain Brian Barnard, who saw Birkenhead home with 7.3 overs to spare, winning the game by one wicket.

The hosts were able to take regular wickets throughout the innings, notably from Sher Safi (4/27) and Dev Ratra (3/44), but regular small contributions from the Ellerslie batters meant they were able to get to 240 before being bowled out. Santosh Iyer scored 42 off 65, with Dipesh Patel (32) the only other player able to make it past 30. Chasing the 240, Roskill had a steady start, with each opener getting 34 as they put on 67 for the first wicket. Neil Patel played an anchoring role, scoring 51, and Safi continued his good day with 53 to go with his four wickets. Alex Cormack took 3/51 from his 10 overs and other bowlers chipped in with wickets, but Jay Patel (run a ball 25) and Ratra (10* off 7) saw the hosts through to victory with two wickets to spare.

There were contributions from each of the top four, with Michael Sclanders being the stand-out innings with 42 off 28, including three sixes. Sclanders was dismissed by the pick of the Bays bowlers, Brodie Harrison, who returned figures of 3/16 off his three overs, helping to close out the innings in the last five overs. The rest of the wickets were shared around with two apiece for Louis Delport (2/26 off 4), Matthew Ross (2/41 off 4), and Ryan Schierhout (2/37 off 4). Harrison backed up his bowling display with the top score of the match, hitting 59 not out off 33 deliveries, which included four sixes. Luke Watson (29 off 25) was that other notable contribution with the bat before Matt Jones dismissed him and three of his teammates with arguably the game-defining spell, returning figures of 4/25 off his four overs, including three wickets in an over. The rest of the wickets were shared between Will O’Donnell (2/21 off 3) and Sam Collinson (2/33 off 4). Takapuna won by 10 runs in a game that went right down the last over.

North Shore didn’t start the way they would’ve liked losing two wickets for just seven runs on the board and the big wicket of Jock McKenzie with the score at 3/23. Fellow Auckland ACE Simon Keene stood up with the top score of 88 off 63 in an innings, which included 12 boundaries, well supported by Daniel O’Driscoll (37 off 33), putting on 77 runs for the fourth wicket partnership. Cooper Harrison-Tubb then joined Keene for another 50-run partnership for the fifth wicket, helping to take the score up to 6/164 at the end of their allotted 20 overs. Zylen Thomas was the pick of the bowlers for Hibiscus, with figures of 3/26 off his four overs. The second innings started just as Shore wanted, with McKenzie removing the dangerous Bevan-John Jacobs in the first over for just 6. McKenzie, the pick of the bowlers, took 3/28 off his four overs, with the other notable bowling performance being the captain Will Clarke with figures of 2/24 off his four overs. However, the Hibiscus middle order saw their side home with their numbers 3-6, all making 30s, including a 60-run 3rd wicket stand between Ramesh Lakmal (35 off 27) and Anuradha Jayampathi 31 (29). Once the foundation was laid it was down to Gagan Sidhu 30 (13) and Aditya Rangwani 31* (19) to see their side to the finish line. Hibiscus Coast going on to win the match by 4 wickets with 5 balls to spare.

Harmanpreet Singh gave the visitors the start they were after dismissing both openers with less than 10 runs on the board and finishing with figures of 2/20 off four overs. After losing a couple of early wickets, James O’Brien got to work steadying the ship and top-scoring with 60 off 51 balls. After four wickets fell around him, including 2 to Shahzad Ahmadzai (2/27 off 3), Mayur Masand (41* off 34) joined him at the crease and together put on 84 for the 5th wicket. Deelaka Weeraratne then joined Mayur and scored a blistering 32 off just 14 balls with a strike rate of almost 230. Constant wickets in the Kumeu chase meant that the 163 required for victory was a bridge too far, with no one able to make it into the 20s. Each of the Birkenhead bowlers chipped in to take the 10 wickets, with the standout being James Newman with 3/10 off two overs. Birkenhead went on to win the match by 74 runs.

Suburbs New Lynn won the toss and elected to bat with their team bolstered by the return of Auckland Aces players Ben Lister and Sean Solia. This was Solia’s first match for the club in over three and a half years. Solia, opening the batting, put on 57 for the 1st wicket with his partner Shikhar Verma. Verma, the standout batter in the match, scored 65 of the 108 runs when he departed. Waitakere fought their way back with three relatively quick wickets, leaving it to Jaskaran Sandhu (31 off 21) and Kevin Gattu (21 off 11) to finish the innings and take Suburbs to 5/170. Luke Devereaux and Malay Patel were the pick of the bowlers for Suburbs, taking 3 wickets apiece (3/11 off 4 for Devereaux and 3/13 off 4 for Patel) as Suburbs were able to bowl Waitakere out for 87 inside 19 overs. Rushil Chavda (28 off 20) and Quin Downie (20 off 19) provided some resistance to the Suburbs attack at number 8 and 9 but it was too little too late as Suburbs New Lynn went on to win the match by 83 runs.

Eden Roskill’s opener Damien van der Berg top scored with 36 off 23 and was supported by Neil Patel, who contributed with 28 off 27; however, it was the Cornwall spinners who put the squeeze on with Sid Dixit (2/12) and Lucas Dasent’s (1/15) 8 overs only going for 27 and taking 3 wickets between them. Liam Wheeler also chipped in with 2/26 from his allotted 4 overs. Cornwall’s openers Sam Crooks (53 off 43) and Sid Dixit (25 off 18) set the tone for the hosts, putting on 55 for the first wicket. From that platform Cornwall was able to milk their way to victory chasing the required 119 in 18.1 overs.

Grafton lost regular wickets, notably to Jack Wright (3/7 off three overs) and Henry Waite (3/8 off 4), on their way to being bowled out for 58 inside 15 overs with just two batters reaching double digits. There was a glimmer of hope as Grafton removed the dangerous Harry Miller in the first over; however, from there it was the Aniket show who bashed his way to 43 off just 25 balls, helping to win the game for Parnell just after the powerplay.

Papatoetoe was able to bring themselves back into the game through Ritapraj Gill, who picked up both McCullum and Robinson on his way to taking 4/22 from his four overs. In their chase of 172 for victory, Uni was able to take regular wickets through Caleb Jasmat (4/14 off 4) and Joshua Hoyle (2/31 off 3), which didn’t allow any of the Papatoetoe batters to get going past 20, apart from Luke Istead. Istead, batting at 8, played arguably the innings of the round, scoring a blistering 83 off 33, which included eight sixes that took Papatoetoe from nowhere to needing just seven off the last over with one wicket in hand with all three potential results possible. Jeet Patel was able to hold his nerve and dismiss Istead in the first ball of the last over, finishing with figures of 3/7 from his 3.1 overs, bowling University to the win.
