DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (Howick Pakuranga Cricket Club)

 

The Howick Pakuranga Cricket Club is a community based sports club in East Auckland with the mission of providing enjoyable social and competitive cricket to the local community.

The Club has a long and very proud history in the area and can trace its origins back to 1866. In recent years it has twice been named Auckland Cricket Club of the Year, has won numerous senior and junior playing titles, and has contributed players to the NZ Black Caps, NZ White Ferns, Auckland Aces and Auckland Hearts.

Based at Lloyd Elsmore Park in Pakuranga, the club owns its own facility which includes one of the best pavilions in the country, along with a modern and well equipped three lane indoor training centre.

The club has a very large and growing junior membership, and over recent seasons has worked on programmes to support players, coaches and volunteers through these age groups.

To further enhance this programme the club is looking to employ a full-time Development Manager. This role will lead the junior cricket programme at the club, support our coaching network and develop pathways for players of all levels.

 

Key tasks of the role include:

  • Midget, junior and youth player development
  • Seasonal cricket programmes
  • Talent identification and pathway support
  • Player grading and team selection
  • Team support sessions
  • Coach Development and managing the coach registration process
  • Running Foundation and Advanced Foundation coaching courses along with skill specific workshops for coaches
  • Coach assessment and development plans
  • Primary/Intermediate/College cricket liaison and support
  • Academy Programmes
  • Holiday programmes
  • Winter squad coaching
  • Elite skill specific player development sessions
  • One to one coaching as required
  • Coordination of club casual coaches

 

Key skills required for the role:

  • NZ Cricket Coaching Level Two (Advanced Development) qualification, overseas equivalent or higher.
  • A sports related tertiary qualification is also preferred.
  • An extensive history of coaching within a club or district environment at midget, junior and youth level.
  • An understanding of modern coaching principles and philosophies including NZ Sports Balance is Better initiative.
  • Experience in designing and implementing player pathway programmes for players of all ages from beginner to elite level.
  • A proven history of managing coach development programmes, running coaching courses and workshops.
  • An understanding of sport within the primary, intermediate and college school environments.
  • All applicants must be registered on the NZ Cricket Coaches database and have completed the police vetting process.
