The Auckland Cricket Coachforce Frontline

Who's who in coaching at Auckland Cricket

Over the Winter at Auckland Cricket we have seen a bit of a change in structure and also personnel so we thought we would take this opportunity to present the two men who are at the coalface of the coaching courses.

neil grayUp first we have our Youth development coordinator and Coachforce Manager Neil Gray. Neil is a proud Scotsman but New Zealand has given him full residency after he has been here for the last 3 years. He has crammed a lot into that time and also been around New Zealand a fair bit! In the UK Neil worked for West Ham in the English Premiership and gained a couple of degrees from the University of Strathclyde.

He decided to swap the hustle and bustle of London life for the country vibe of the Wairarapa as a student at the Brendan Bracewell Cricket Academy in 2007 and loved the land of the long white cloud so much he decided to stay here and got a job with the Ellerslie Cricket Club as their Development Manager. Over the two years in that job he also coached the Auckland Central u15 rep team and the Auckland U14 side. Neil is a level 2 coach and has been running the coaching courses around Auckland for the last 2 years.

With his new job at Auckland Cricket Neil is in charge of Youth and Secondary school cricket and the administration and delivery of level 1 and CACT courses. If you have any questions about these topics don't hesitate to contact him on ngray@aucklandcricket.co.nz or 0212414992

Jamie LloydSecondly and most importantly we have our Junior Development Coordinator Jamie Lloyd. Jamie has been with Auckland Cricket for a couple of seasons now, and has been busy carving a fantastic reputation around the Primary and Intermediate schools of our fair city.

Jamie's own cricket career has been curtailed by a shoulder injury, but by his own admission is far better talking about the game than actually playing it, hence his involvement in coaching and his part in the Auckland Cricket Podcast. Jamie is also Auckland Cricket's resident rockstar, as a member of NZ's rock revivalist's 'The Black Dahlias'.

His main role this season for Auckland Cricket will be overseeing the Kiwisport project which sees five CDO's (Cricket Development Officers) working in targeted clusters of schools around Auckland. The aim is to increase opportunities for children to participate in regular sport and improve the culture and quality of cricket being played by our youngsters. If you have any questions about junior cricket, the podcast, or in fact wish to book the Black Dahlias for your next corporate function, then don't hesitate to contact Jamie on jlloyd@aucklandcricket.co.nz or 0212409586.
