Frank Grattan Cup
March 25-27
The third Frank Grattan Cup swings into action on Sunday March 25th as the best schoolboys from Auckland, Canterbury and Hamilton battle it out for supremacy.
Over the course of three days the sides will take each other on in a round robin format. The action will unfold at Waikaraka Park which should provide a great venue for some extremely competitive cricket.
The tournament has been possible because three seasons ago the Auckland Secondary Schools' Cricket Association (ASSCA) became aware that a large sum of money had been left to it as part of a bequest. The bequest was left by Ms. Jocelyn Grattan and she wished it to be named after her father Frank, a passionate and enthusiastic cricket supporter and a man who loved to see youth succeed at the sport.
The Frank Grattan legacy allows for ASSCA to commit an annual sum of money, in perpetuity, towards the development of secondary school cricketers. The Frank Grattan Cup is one of the initiatives through which we are hoping to achieve his wishes.
