2009 'Outward Bound' Country of Origin
Auckland Cricket's "Country of Origin" Twenty20 cricket tournament is a unique competition that reflects Auckland's cosmopolitan society by bringing together a number of culturally diverse communities that share a common interest in cricket.
Last season the competition, in its fouth year, involved Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Samoa, Niue, Cook Islands and Tonga. This season we have expanded to 7 teams with the addition of India.
The main objectives of the competition are to bring together these communities, to share their experiences about life in New Zealand, and encourage their ongoing participation in cricket. It also provides an opportunity to play and review the new format of Twenty20 cricket, and gain an insight into where this popular new model best sits in the cricket environment.
The competition is held in a round-robin format over five consecutive Sunday afternoons through March at Keith Hay Park, Mt Roskill.
