Beach Cricket
Fun in the sun
Around all NZ beaches in the summer you will see families and groups of mates fighting for beach cricket supremacy. Auckland Cricket would like to capitalise on this popularity and increase the awareness and profile of cricket around North Shore beaches this summer.
For the last two years we have worked together with the 'In2It' team at the North Shore City Council, a group committed to increasing the physical activity of young people through new and exciting activities. So this year we are going to do the same
What is it? Three 'beach cricket' days to be held in January at Browns Bay and Takapuna beaches. Each day will run from 12-3pm and involve an afternoon of beach cricket games and various competitions such as classic catches, beach sprints and biggest hits.
We are aiming for a festival environment at each venue with a BBQ, music and prizes for competition winners.
