The Samona Women in training at Eden Park

Next week sees the Samoan Women's side head to Japan to see if they can take the next step in their quest to make it to the next ICC World Cup.

They will face Japan and Papa New Guinea in a tournament from which the winner will progress to a final qualifying tournament that could see them competing alongside the Whiteferns at the next world event.

There's a lot of cricket to be played before that happens though and we talked to Maia Lewis, the Auckland Hearts and Samoan Women's coach, about the tournament, the side's chances and what it means to Samoan cricket.
