Blackcrap John Bougen shows his class
It's not your average boys trip away but the Blackcraps mission to take on India at cricket was a journey that took them all round India and eventually finished at Eden Park.
The book that came out of that journey is entitled "Bowling through India" and was officially launched last week with a game of cricket on Eden Park number one, and then in a slightly more formal manner in the Bert Sutcliffe Lounge of the Merv Wallace Stand on the Outer Oval.
The story of five kiwi blokes who played alley cricket wherever they could find willing participants - which in India is pretty much everywhere - and experienced Indian life and culture along the way is a great one and Auckland Cricket was proud to be involved in making the book launch possible.
Author Justin Brown is a mad keen cricket fan and has been the "voice of Eden Park" for the past two seasons being the ground announcer for all Aces home Twenty20 games.
The game against a group of young Indian's selected with the help of Radio Tarana was a momentous one as the Blackcraps belied their name to acually win a game on home soil, a first in their history.
The book itself is a fine read if you're a cricket fan, lover of travel or interested in the fascinating cultural mix that is India - and it's available from Dymocks now.
