Hedley Howarth Trophy enters second phase

The top and bottom six have been found in the Hedley Howarth Trophy and a couple of teams already have a head start after only the first round.

Howick Pakuranga have taken the early lead in the Major Championship after carrying through six points from the first round and then grabbing a first innings win against North Shore in a low scoring affair at Devonport Domain.

Suburbs New Lynn are close behind them after chasing down 173 against University Ellerslie. Papatoetoe were the other first round first innings winners in the Major Championship.

In the Minor Championship Waitakere City chased down 347 for first innings points against Takapuna. An eighth wicket partnership of 111 pulled Waitakere from dire straits to within reach of first innings points and Blair White continued on to see them across the line.

East Coast Bays lead the Minor Championship after carrying through maximum points and grabbing a first innings win against Parnell in round one. Grafton United were the other successful side as they racked up 324 against Eden Roskill to nab first innings points.

In the Jeff Crowe Cup the two finalists have now been found after the knockout phases.

Howick Pakuranga cruised through to the final with wins over Grafton United and then Cornwall, whilst Parnell went the long way round, qualifying 4th in their group but battling through to make their second consecutive limited overs final.

In the Women's Premier Grade the Pearl Dawson Trophy is in its early stages, with North East currently leading the way with two wins from as many games.

The first trophy of the season was decided a couple of weeks ago with Central West repeating their victory from last year in the Prichard Cup final against Cornwall.

Losi Harford anchored the Central West batting effort before a solid all round bowling performance allowed the westerners to bowl Cornwall out 30 runs short of their target and take the title.
