Auckland teams miss out on national finals

Action from the girls MILO Shield regional final
It was a disappointing day out for Auckland sides in the MILO Cup and Shield as both boys and girls teams lost to their Northern Districts counterparts to miss out on booking a national finals spot.
In the MILO Cup Bucklands Beach Intermediate couldn't come close to the impressive target of 136 off 25 overs set by Berkley Intermediate from Hamilton, mustering only 76 in reply.
The girls from Henderson Intermediate would be still be feeling the pain after they missed out by the narrowest of margins, one run, also to Berkley Intermediate. Henderson bowled extremely well to restrict Berkley to 89/8 but then lost their last wicket on 88 to fall cruelly short.
So it wasn't a day to rejoice for either Auckland sides but they can both be extremely proud of their achievements as Auckland MILO Cup and Shield champions.
We managed to get out to Lloyd Elsmore yesterday and get some footage from the games.
